About Us The Sparta Pet Shoppe & Spa opened its doors November 20th, 2004.  Lynn Crandall, owner, has grown up in the pet industry.  Since she was a little girl, her family has owned pet stores in Ocean and Monmouth County N.J.  "I remember walking around with a python around my neck and a tarantula attached to my shirt.  Sometimes with our pet rat on my shoulder" (not at the same time, of course). Since then, she was hooked. The idea of the Sparta Pet Shoppe & Spa came about when Lynn moved to Sparta from Staten Island in 2002 and adopted her Fox Terrier, Spot.  "I felt there was a definite need for pet care in the area.  There wasn't a local pet store where I could buy quality food, bakery-style treats, gifts for my friend's pet and something cute for Spot while having him groomed at the same time.  And, all this from someone who has knowledge in the industry.  That's when I knew I had something to offer to the community."  At the end of  2004, Lynn left her job in NYC as a Training Analyst to pursue a job that she loves... Pets!  "I wanted to provide a resource where Sparta residents and the surrounding communities can go for all their pets needs.  A "one stop shop" if you will.  Pet food, supplies and accessories are just a small part of what we're about.  We offer top-notch grooming services and an array of products, services and special events that many pet stores don't.   We expand our selection of merchandise each week, listening to our customers wants and needs.  We are confident you will have a pleasant shopping experience, and hope that you stop by for a visit.  While you're here, be sure you say hello to my love, Spot!  He's with me every day and may just make himself comfortable on your feet!"
